Homemade stew in crockpot slow cooker
- 1lb to 2lb of stewing beef i did only 1 lbs i felt was plently but it did call for 2 lbs
- 6 medium potatos peeled and cubbed
- 3 cups of baby carrots
- 2 celery stocks cut up optional but i think it adds more to your stew
- 1 small white onion or a quarter of spanish onion cut up . Whatever flavor you prefer
- 2 10.75 oz cans of condensed celery soup
- 1/3 cup of water recipe didnt call for this either but it is needed in my opinion
- 1 cup of ketcup
- 1 tsp of paprika
- 2 1 oz pkgs of onion soup mix
- 2 tsp of garlic powder or more i definetly did about a tbs but i know some people like less and this recipe didnt even call for it but i love garlic
Grab a freezer zip lock bag or a shake and bake bag or something along those lines and throw in your onion soup mix and paprika powder.
Grab stewing beef and throw in bag along with seasoning and shake up until all seasoning is stuck to stewing beef.
Grease slow cooker with what you have on hand like pam ,butter, or margrine. I used pam.
Then put seasoned stewing beef all along bottom in a nice even layer.
Now put down your peeled and diced potatos, celery, onion, and baby carrots.
Grab a medium sized mixing bowl. Put in your 2 cans of celery soup, 3/4 cup of ketcup . Mix well and pour over top of everything in slow cooker. Sprinkle garlic powder over top.
Set on low and put timer to 8 hours.
About a hour and a half in mix the rest of the ketcup with 1/3 cup of water and pour over top. Remember do not stir everything that stewing beef at the bottom cooking is making the pot liqor for your gravy!
Now with a hour and a half to 2 hours remaining stir everything together. It all just depends on how well done you like your meat. I like mine super well done with a crisp so i actually waited till last hour and it was exactly how i like it.
Husbands favorite that i have cooked so far.
5 out of 5 for both of us.
Serves 8 to 10
